I think it would be interesting if Walrus looked a little more in-depth at the whole issue of "satire-as-entertainment" and if satire still has any real role to play when it is just another of the many options available for viewing on a Tuesday night. This not only applies to Rick Mercer but also to John Stewart and The Colbert Report and others...what is the role of satire in a postmodern consumer culture where any of these guys can be pulled from the air at a moment's notice over any real or perceived slight to larger corporate interests (who control their air-time)?
