Yep, this captures my frustrations! A few voices are out there on the internet down here in the fringes of the Texas oil pump jack steel suckers endlessly returning toxic production water to a dead ecology.
What needs to be part of the big shift to renewables and cost comparisons is the vast deposits of easily produced oil in Mexico which could be (with very little comparitive effort to the tar sands P.R. gloss) transported to the same refineries in the Gulf of Mexico. Please, people, give us a cost per gallon from the tarsands pipeline "jobs, jobs, jobs mantra"
compared to development in Mexico.
Democracy is in Mexico already where the wealthy wait on the oil resources until the cost per gallon guarentees them inconcievble profits. But by that time, they will have all been kidnapped by cartels and will have unwilling donated noses, ears, pounds of flesh and much more so the struggle remains, as everywhere, a burden of the poor armed by merchants of death.
